Description

No. 6 Droitwich Road is a building that originally consisted of two houses, now converted into one dwelling. It dates back to around 1600 and has undergone alterations in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. The structure is timber-framed with brick infill and has been refronted in painted brick, topped with a plain tiled roof. The building features three framed bays that are aligned east to west, and it stands two storeys tall with a cellar and a dentilled eaves cornice at the front.

The external framing is not fully visible, but part of a collar and tie-beam truss can be seen at the east gable end, which includes two collars, struts, and a V-strut in the apex. The south front elevation has windows that are all 20th-century three-light casements with leaded lights. The ground floor windows have cambered heads, and the main entrance, located to the left of the central bay (likely in the original through-passage position), features a 20th-century part-glazed door. There is also a cellar opening to the right.

Inside, the roof framing, ends, and cross-frames are preserved, likely comprising four panels from the sill to the wall-plate, along with substantial ceiling beams. An ogee-arched door head remains in the west end wall, although a large fireplace that was located at the rear of the central bay has been demolished. There are also 19th-century additions at the rear of the building.
