Description

Dorset Cottage is a house dating from the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the mid-20th century. It is constructed of whitened brick and features a plain tiled roof with a ridge stack at the left end and another stack at the rear. The building has two storeys and a dentilled eaves cornice. It consists of three bays with irregular window placement. All windows are 3-light casements, with two on the ground floor having cambered heads. The main entrance, located between the first and second bays, has an original open pediment and a six-panelled door. At the time of the survey in June 1985, the pilasters that once flanked the door had been removed. There is also a doorway to the right with a moulded architrave and a 20th-century door. Above the entrance and the adjacent window is a large timber lintel. The interior was not inspected. The cottage is located next to The Old Black Boy on the west side and is prominently positioned as part of a continuous row of houses at the north-east end of Droitwich Road. It is included for its group value.
