Description
The Old Thatch is a detached cottage dating to the late 15th and early 16th centuries. It is timber-framed with a jettied and boarded gable end facing the street. The gable end is filled with brick, which is partly rendered. It has a stone plinth, also partly rendered. The thatch roof has a half-hip at the jettied end, a small brick ridge stack, and a full hip at the opposite end.
On the north side, there is one small eyebrow dormer with a narrow three-light casement window. Below the dormer is a 20th-century two-light window, and to the right is a lean-to porch. An early plank door is located on the left side. The south side exhibits mainly square panel framing and a plastered buttress approximately in the centre. A 20th-century brick lean-to addition to the rear is not of particular note. The interior is not accessible but is likely to be of interest.
