Description

The building is a barn located immediately north of Achards, dating from the early 18th century, with some 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of random rubble limestone, partially rendered, and features a stone slate roof. The barn has a south porch and an upper floor that has been inserted.

On the south side, there is a central projecting porch with a blocked barn doorway, along with three rows of pigeon holes that include perches and single pigeon holes around an attic light above. The left side has 20th-century casements inserted into the rendered section. The west end features a two-light casement on the ground floor, with a single light above in a reduced opening, and two raking rendered buttresses. There is a leaded attic casement with a timber lintel.

The north side has a low central doorway with a timber lintel and plank doors, and to the right, there is a 19th-century stable doorway with a stone lintel. To the left, there is an upper floor doorway built into the bank. The east end has an upper floor doorway with a timber lintel and a plank door, along with a fixed-light to the left and blocked openings above with timber lintels.

Inside, the barn was altered in the 19th century to form a stable at the west end. The porch has a collar truss roof, while the rest of the roof was replaced in the early 20th century.
