Description

Old Brewery Cottage and The Nog are two houses built as a row in the late 18th century. They are constructed of coursed rubble limestone, with ashlar detailing, rendered and concrete rebuilt chimneys, and a stone slate roof. The right-hand house continues the design of Breowan Cottage. It has a three-window front with segmental arched upper floor windows, some with timber casements. A doorway to the right has a four-panel door on a stone lintel, and a segmental arched casement window to the left. A plain eaves band continues from Breowan Cottage. A roof dormer is set into the eaves. A ridge chimney stands at the junction with the angled portion of the building to the left, which is The Nog, and it includes a segmental arched casement window on each floor. A blocked doorway is located to the right, with a smaller segmental arched casement window above it. The Nog has a central, eaves-mounted gabled roof dormer. The north-east end has a gable with an off-centre upper floor doorway, featuring a keyed lintel and a 20th-century door. An ashlar chimney is located on the gable. The rear of both houses has segmental arched casement windows, with a single eaves-mounted gabled roof dormer on each. The interior was not inspected.
