Description
The Kings Head is an inn, now functioning as a public house, that dates from the late 17th century, with a mid-19th century remodelling of an 18th-century addition. It is constructed from coursed and random rubble limestone, featuring ashlar and brick chimneys, and has stone slate and concrete plain tile roofs. The building is two storeys high with an attic and includes a two-storey addition.
The front of the building has a full gable on the 17th-century part to the left, which features a two-window, three-light chamfered mullioned casement fenestration with hoodmoulds and relieving arches. There is also a two-light attic casement with a hoodmould in the gable. The west gable end has a blocked doorway and an ashlar gable-mounted chimney with a plain cap, along with a small outbuilding addition.
To the east, there is a large 18th-century addition that has a 19th-century front, featuring a three-window cross window fenestration with hoodmoulds. A 20th-century flat-roofed addition obscures the left ground floor cross windows and is not considered of special interest. The east gable end has a brick gable-mounted chimney and an off-centre single-light attic casement. The interior has not been inspected.
