Description

Grange Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the mid-17th century and was extended in the early 18th century. It is constructed of random coursed rubblestone, partially strap-pointed, and features a double Roman tile roof. The end stacks are rendered, with two diagonally set brick flues on the west range and decorative stone caps from removed flues on the east range stack. The building is double pile, two storeys high with an attic.

The west front has four windows, which are 4-pane 19th-century sashes. On the ground floor, there is a central 20th-century door and a twin 4-pane sash window to the left under a cambered arch, along with a multi-pane 20th-century window to the right. The main entrance is located at the north end of the rear range, featuring a large flat wooden hood supported by scrolled brackets and a 4-panel door, with the top two panels glazed and the lower two recessed. There is also a small 2-light wood mullion attic window on the left-hand return of the west range.

Inside, the farmhouse includes a wood newel stair leading up to the attic in the southwest corner, which has a very large newel post, along with several moulded chamfered beams with two stops on the ground and first floors.
