Description
No 22 Chapel Street is a detached dwelling that was formerly a bakehouse and Post Office, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from cut and squared marlstone and features a Welsh slate roof. The building is a long block with a large chimney stack at the eaves on the right side. It stands two storeys high and has two windows on the upper floor, which are sash windows with glazing bars set under rough stone splayed lintels. The ground floor has a 19th-century shop front on the right, and between the windows, there is a six-panel door that is slightly off-centre to the right. This door is set in deep reveals and is topped by a crude pediment supported by brackets. Notably, the upper part of the wall above the first-floor windows has been rebuilt using different stone, creating an unusual composition with the windows positioned to the left of a large area of unpierced wall.
