Description
Cam Hopton Schoolhouse is a dwelling that was originally built as a schoolhouse in the early 18th century. It features a fine squared back and coursed stone facade, with a rubble structure and a stone slate roof. The building is a long block with ashlar gable stacks that have moulded cappings and skirts. It stands two storeys plus an attic and has five windows, which include cross mullion and transom designs in wood, set under stone voussoirs. There are three small dormers, each with 2-light casements. The central entrance consists of a 4-panel door beneath a 4-pane transom light, topped with a flat hood supported by brackets. At the time of the survey, the building was being used as a dwelling for the head teacher.
