Description
The gates, gate piers, and walling leading to the Parish Church of St George date from the late 20th century and are constructed with a combination of materials. The gates and posts are made of cast iron, while the walls and buttresses are built from squared and coursed limestone. At the southern end of the wall, there are a pair of sandstone piers that are approximately 600 millimeters square and 2 meters high.
On the left side, the walling consists of eight bays, which are divided by square buttresses with double offsets. This wall is about 2.75 meters high and features double weathered roll cap coping. A late 20th-century structure has been added in the last two bays, closest to the church, which forms another gable for the adjoining premises.
On the right side, there are five bays with a similar design, which ends at the entrance to the new Rectory, although the Rectory itself is not included in this listing. The pair of cast-iron gates stands about 1.5 meters high and is complemented by spear-head railings, which are hung on square Gothick cast-iron posts.
