82, Westgate Street

No. 82 Westgate Street is a shop and dwelling built in the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It may include parts of an earlier structure. The building is constructed of brick with stone details and is painted white, topped with a slate roof. It is a double-depth block with a rear extension.

The exterior features three storeys and a cellar. The front has a moulded stone crowning cornice and a stone-coped parapet. The ground floor includes a late 19th-century shop front, which has central, recessed mid-20th-century double doors framed by stone pilasters and brackets at either end of the shop fascia. On the first floor, there are two late 19th-century horned sash windows, and on the second floor, there are two shorter horned sash windows. All windows have central vertical glazing bars and are set in original openings, with flat arched heads made of five raised-and-stepped stone voussoirs on the first floor and plain brick arched heads on the second floor. Each window features projecting stone sills. The interior has not been inspected.
