Description
Castle Farm Barn and the attached cow shed is a large structure that may have originally served as a tithe barn, dating from the early 17th century. It is built of rubble stone and features a stone slate roof, with double Roman tiles on the eastern side. The barn consists of nine bays supported by king posts and struts, although some of these have been removed. There are opposed cart entries, with a full-height gabled projecting entry on the west side that includes a pointed archway and a boarded tympanum. The walls have arrow slit ventilation. On the west wall, there are arcaded lean-to structures supported by stone piers, also covered with stone slate roofs. A cobbled courtyard lies to the west of the barn. Additionally, there is a pointed arched opening on the north wall. The attached cow shed to the east is constructed of rubble stone, has a stone slate roof, and features a simple arched doorway and window on the north wall.
