Description
The wellhead of the Clear Well, located opposite the entrance to Clearwell Castle, is a well-constructed structure made of rubblestone with dressed stone quoins. Its date is uncertain, but it stands approximately 12 feet high and features a rectangular open design with a curved rear wall. The wellhead has a large central entrance archway with a trefoil shape. To the left of the entrance, there is a niche styled similarly, which contains a drinking water fountain, and below it, at ground level, is a smaller trough for animals to drink from. The "Clear Well" itself is situated beneath a circular iron grille at the back of the structure.
