Description

An early 19th-century barn and cowshed, forming part of the Manor Farmhouse group. The building is constructed of rubble stone with brick dressings, featuring a tiled roof with stone slate eaves. It has an L-shaped layout, with a cowshed facing south towards the farmyard and a 9-bay barn facing north. The south side of the barn includes two lean-to porches with extensions in between. The north side features two large doorways with segmental brick arches and keystones, flanked by slit vents, with two pantiled lean-to extensions. Slit vents are also present in the gable end facing the road. The cowshed, attached to the south side, has planked doors and shuttered loft doors, and a rear elevation that is without windows and facing the road. Inside the barn, the roof structure consists of 9-bay collar and tie-beam trusses with raking struts, and two tiers of butt purlins.
