Description
This is a detached house dating from the 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and brick nogging on a random rubble plinth to the right, and coursed squared stone to the left. The roof is tiled, with a slate eaves course along the road facade.
The house has a square plan and two storeys. The stone section on the left has a boarded door with a four-pane fixed-light window to its left, beneath a timber lintel and a simple stone hoodmould. Above this is a three-light wooden mullion and transom window with iron opening lights, and a stone hoodmould. A similar two-light window is at a lower level at the right end of the stone section. The timber framing facing the road has a two-panel high ground floor and a three-panel first floor, with angle struts between the main posts and wall plate. A two-light timber window is located on the ground floor, and a three-light casement window on the first floor, also with an iron opening light, sits above a later, smaller single-light window to the left.
The left return features two rendered gables, while the right side has two bays of timber framing, each with two panels on both floors. The eaves are slightly lower on this side, with angle braces between the main posts and wall plate. A French door is on the left, accompanied by a four-light casement window to the right, both with weatherboarding above. It is believed that there were originally two windows on the first floor of this section, but they have since been blocked. The roof is hipped on this end. A central chimney features diagonally-set flues topped with rebuilt brick.
