Description
Upper Viney Farmhouse is a dwelling that was formerly a farmhouse, dating from the 17th century. It is rendered with an asbestos cement and Welsh slate roof, designed in an L-plan with gabled ends. The building features large stacks on the right gable, at the front, and in the internal angle of the L, as well as another stack to the left of the centre on the main ridge.
The farmhouse is two storeys tall, with a third storey in the back gabled wing on the right. The road front appears to have been built in two stages, with the newer work on the left. The front has two windows on the ground floor, along with a large new garage opening, a new glazed door, and two small 2-light casements, with a longer similar window in a modified opening. On the first floor, there is a new 3-light window above the garage door, three 2-light mullioned windows, and a small cross mullion and transomed light above a blank space at ground level.
In the east gable, there is a small fixed square stair light next to the main stack, which is situated under a drip stone. In this wing, immediately to the right of the gable, there is a new stable-type door framed in very heavy wood, with frame dimensions of approximately 150 mm square.
