Description
The school room adjoining the Church of St John is a mid-19th century building that also includes a small cottage, now functioning as a clubhouse. It is constructed from squared and coursed limestone and features a Welsh slate gable facing the street, with a hipped roof on the cottage, which is set back to the right.
The school room has two deep-set single casements with chamfered surrounds on either side of a Tudor door opening, which has a square head and sunk spandrels. The door itself is made of planks and vertical battens and is accessed by three steps. Above the door, there is an unworked shield in the gable. To the left, there is an outshut with a swept-down roof that has a single casement facing the road and a triple casement on the return side.
The cottage to the right features a Yorkshire horizontal sash window with 12 over 12 panes, a two-light plain casement below it, and a plank and vertical batten door located in the internal angle. This building serves as a modest architectural complement to St John's Church and holds historical significance for the local community.
