Description
The Church of St John is an Anglican parish church located on Beachley Road in Tidenham, built in 1833 by architects Foster and Okeley. It is a small, simple church constructed from squared and coursed limestone, topped with Welsh slate roofs featuring coped verges, kneelers, and plain terminal crosses. A small bell turret is situated at the west end. The church consists of a nave, transept, and sanctuary, with clamp buttresses that have a single offset.
The west front features a wheel window with wood tracery set in a stone surround above a simple pointed door that has a chamfered surround and a stopped drip. On either side of the nave, there are two lancet windows, while each transept has one lancet window. The north and south sides of the sanctuary also have one lancet each, and the east end displays a triple lancet window. All windows have simple stopped drips, although the east end has stepped drips with floriated stops.
Inside, there is a flat pointed barrel ceiling made of plaster at the quoined intersection, and some wall tablets can be found within the church. Overall, it is a minimal yet aesthetically pleasing building.
