Description

The standing stone at Offa's Dyke is a notable feature located on Buttington Hill in Sedbury. It was re-erected in 1977, and its exact age is unknown. The stone is made of natural sandstone and stands approximately 1.5 meters high. It is set on a roughly circular base made of large untrimmed stones. A plaque on the stone indicates that it is known as the Buttington Stone and commemorates its re-erection during the Silver Jubilee year by the Army Apprentices' College and Sedbury Park School. The stone is situated on a natural mound at the junction of Offa's Dyke and the road leading from Sedbury to Beachley.
