SO 61 SE LITTLEDEAN CHURCH STREET (east side)

10/86 Unidentified monument in churchyard, about 7m south of south porch, Church of St. Ethelbert

GV II

Pedestal tomb; third quarter C18; ashlar; short rectangle in plan. Flat lid with moulded edge, inset at corners to match sides below. Long sides have a raised panel with inset semi-circular head, plain moulded edge on south side, egg-and-dart on north: spandrels filled with high-relief rococo carving. Ends elongated gadrooned rectangular baluster, with rococo carving on shaft. original inscription weathered, 1767 legible; later inscription.
