Description

This is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard, about 7 meters south of the south porch of the Church of St. Ethelbert. It dates from the third quarter of the 18th century and is made of ashlar stone. The tomb has a short rectangular shape and features a flat lid with a moulded edge, which is inset at the corners to match the sides below. The long sides of the tomb have a raised panel with an inset semi-circular head; the south side has a plain moulded edge, while the north side features an egg-and-dart design. The spandrels are adorned with high-relief rococo carving. The ends of the tomb are designed with elongated gadrooned rectangular balusters, which also have rococo carving on the shaft. The original inscription is weathered, but the date 1767 is still legible, along with a later inscription.
