Description
The Old Victoria Inn is a former inn that has been converted into a dwelling. It dates back to the 15th century and features a rendered front that largely conceals its timber-framing. The building has a coursed-rubble rear wing, rendered brick chimneys, and a slate roof. It is designed in an 'L' plan with a three-bay front and is two stories high, with the upper floor jettied.
The right-hand bay has a carriageway opening on the ground floor that is open to the roof, with a wall above that has been rebuilt. The two bays to the left are defined by exposed main posts, featuring an integrally-carved column on the face and a plain, pegged bracket above, all resting on a rendered plinth. There is one window per bay on each floor, although the windows have been renewed and dummy framing was applied to the render in 1984. Original timber framing is still visible on the ground floor to the left side of the carriageway.
