Description
Lodges Farmhouse is a farmhouse that features a smaller wing from the late 16th century and a main house from the early 17th century. It is constructed of rubble stone and has a concrete tile roof with three stone gable stacks. The building is L-shaped with cross gables and an earlier, lower wing to the west. It has two storeys and an attic, with a scattered arrangement of windows. The first floor includes three- and four-light stone mullioned and transomed windows that are set under hood moulds. The main doorway on the north side has a cambered stone arch with a relieving arch made of thin voussoir stones above it. Inside, there is a significant remnant of an oak screens partition in the older wing, along with a large stone lintel fireplace. The main house features several chamfered and stopped doorcases, an oak stair, and what appears to be an authentic priest hole with footholds for climbing out of sight.
