Description

Caragh House Flats is a late 18th-century town house, now converted into flats. The exterior is rough cast with a moulded cornice and parapet, and features long and short chamfered quoin blocks, painted. The roof is not visible. The building comprises a single range with rear extensions, and has a basement and three storeys. It is symmetrical with five windows, featuring glazing bar sashes. The original front entrance, which included a fielded 6-panel door within a pedimented wooden doorcase and an original lion door knocker, is now closed off and accessed by steps and railings which have been removed. Side and rear entrances are now in use. Some internal shutters are still visible. The house is a good example of a grand-scale classical town house.
