Description
The former drinking fountain and animal trough is located in the center of the green in Cherington and dates from 1875. It is constructed of limestone and features a single large trefoil arch with rosettes on each side set within square panels. The stone "roof" has a dentil fillet and roll moulding, tapering down to a carved frieze adorned with a row of crockets. A central plaque, which drops through the "roof" line, is inscribed with the words "LET HIM / THAT IS ATHIRST / COME." In front of the arch, there is a semi-circular trough at ground level, and a small wrought iron "gate" is present in the arch by the water pipe.
