Description
The drinking trough and fountain, located at the foot of Binton Hill, were built between 1868 and 1870. Constructed from dressed stone with brick and ashlar dressings, the structure features an elliptical-headed recess with a brick and stone arch, which includes a key block inscribed with "ERECTED/ 1868/ W J." Above the stone trough, there is a metal lion's head that serves as a pipe. The coped gable supports a panel with a swan's neck pediment and an inscription that reads "1870" along with a reference to John 4, verses 13-14. To the left of the main trough, there is a small recess that likely served as a dog bowl.
