Description

Church Bank Farmhouse is probably of early 17th-century origin, with 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of coursed blue lias rubble, with an old tile roof and brick stacks arranged cross-axially and at the ends. The building is in an L-plan layout.

The exterior is single-storey with an attic, presenting a four-window front. The right end has a half-hipped gable. The entrance is located to the right of the centre, featuring a 19th-century gabled timber porch and architrave to a half-glazed door. The ground floor windows are generally segmental-headed, with brick arches; the window to the left end is wide and contains a 20th-century casement. The window to the right of the centre has brick jambs and a three-light casement, and a similar window is found at the right end. A gabled cross-wing to the right has a matching three-light window. The first floor exhibits a three-light casement to the left end, with a blocked window adjacent to it. Hipped dormer with brick rebuilding below is to the right of the centre, a brick gabled dormer over the entrance has a two-light casement, and the right end contains a segmental-headed window with a three-light casement. All windows apart from the 20th-century casements retain small panes.

The right return side displays some blocked windows and a three-light casement. The left return side features timber framing and a brick gable. A small, single-storey range extends to the rear, characterized by a pegged frame to a wide-boarded door.

The rear of the farmhouse includes a gabled wing and a catslide outshut with a slate roof to the right. Various casements and first-floor sashes are present, along with a 20th-century porch. The interior was not inspected at the time of listing.
