Description
Sherborne House is a large detached town house dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of rubble stone and is limewashed, featuring a hipped stone slate roof with overhanging eaves. The building has three large stepped external stone stacks, each with paired diagonally set ashlar flues that have moulded cornices. The main structure is square in shape, with a small coursed rubble and brick wing to the right, and it stands two storeys tall.
The front of the house has five windows with 12-pane sashes set in moulded stone architraves. On the ground floor, there are four similar windows with a continuous dripmould above them. The central entrance features a large stone doorcase with double doors, each having two large recessed panels, framed by a wide moulded stone architrave. Above the doorcase is a large segmental moulded pediment, which has a small plain oval light in the tympanum. Internal shutters are still present in the ground floor front rooms. The interior is not accessible but may be of interest.
