Description

This is a large detached town house, dating from the early 19th century, situated set back from the road in Lechlade. The house is constructed of ashlar stone with a parapet in coursed and dressed stone, a moulded stone cornice, and a slate roof with coped verges. There are three stacks: a new stone stack to the left end, and ridge and right-end stacks with a stone base and brick flue. The main frontage is a long single range of two storeys, with a rear extension. It has six windows, with 12-pane sashes in shallow reveals. The ground floor has three similar windows, and a projecting open stone porch to the right of centre, featuring two Doric columns (unfluted, on bases), two pilasters to the back, and an entablature. The porch contains large double half-glazed doors with lower fielded panels. The original two windows on the far left have been replaced by a later 19th-century single-storey shop projecting forward to the pavement line. This shop has double canted windows of eight large panes each, a central wide half-glazed door, and a moulded wooden cornice.
