Description

Greendrive Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with extensions added in the mid to late 18th century and 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, featuring dressed quoins and a stone slate roof with ashlar stacks. The main structure is rectangular and has a 19th-century extension on the right gable end, while a mid to late 18th-century extension runs parallel to the main body at the rear.

The farmhouse is two storeys high with an attic, which is illuminated by a single 2-light eaves dormer that has leaded panes and slate hung sides. The facade has three windows; there are two late 19th-century, two-storey canted bays with 16-pane sash windows at the front, and 8-pane sash windows on either side. Between the two bays, there is a single 2-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement with horizontal glazing bars, along with a 20th-century part-glazed door featuring glazing bars below.

The 19th-century two-storey, two-bay extension to the right has a lower roof line and is lit by 2 and 3-light wooden casements with leaded panes. The mid to late 18th-century extension at the rear has 2 and 3-light wooden casements, some with horizontal glazing bars and others with leaded panes, all set within cambered-headed surrounds. A 20th-century fielded panelled door is located at the rear, topped by a flat canopy supported on moulded brackets, which was moved from the front of the house. There is also a protection insurance plaque above the door.

Inside, the main body of the farmhouse features an open fireplace with a wooden bressumer and the remains of two inglenook seats, both set within recesses that have curved heads. The farmhouse is associated with the Barrington Park Estate.
