Description

Greycote Cottage is a detached cottage, originally two cottages, dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is situated in Little Barrington village. The exterior is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone with large quoins, and has a stone slate roof. There are ashlar stacks, one of which was restored in the 20th century. The rectangular main body has extensions to both gable ends. The front facade is two storeys high and features a three-window arrangement. Most of the windows are original 18th-century two-light stone-mullioned casements, with leaded panes. Two 20th-century three-light stone-mullioned casements are on the right-hand bay; the upper one is set within a gabled stone half-dormer. A 20th-century part-glazed plank door is set within a 20th-century gabled porch, positioned off-centre to the right. A single-storey lean-to with a plank door is attached to the left gable end, and a single-storey, single-bay extension with a plank door is attached to the right gable end. The gable-end stacks have moulded cappings, and there is flat stone coping at the gable ends. The interior has not been inspected.
