Description
The surround to the supplementary village conduit head is a limestone structure from the mid to late 19th century. It consists of a large, dressed rectangular limestone block set into the wall to the right of East Lodge, located immediately northwest of The Dower House. The conduit head features a carved lion's head spout, with an inscription in capital letters above it stating, "THOSE OCCUPYING HOUSES BUILT PRIOR TO 1835 ARE WELCOME TO USE THE WATER SUPPLY FOR DOMESTIC, COOKING AND DRINKING PURPOSES ONLY DURING THE PLEASURE OF THE OWNER OF BROCKHAMPTON PARK OR HIS REPRESENTATIVES." Below the lion's head spout, another inscription reads, "THIS SUPPLY HAS BEEN PLACED HERE ONLY TO AUGMENT PRESENT SUPPLIES AND MAY BE DISCONTINUED AT ANY TIME SHOULD CIRCUMSTANCES DEMAND IT."
