Description

Brockhampton Lodge is a lodge to Brockhampton Park, dating from the early 20th century, with later 20th-century additions. The initials "F.R." (Fairfax Rhodes) appear on the rainwater heads. The roof is covered in stone slate, with stone stacks. The building has a rectangular plan with canted corners at the west end, and a contemporary extension matching the style at the east-facing gable end. It is two storeys high, with gables facing north, west, and south. The windows are wood-mullioned with transoms, arranged in two and three-light openings, and contain leaded panes. Stopped hoods are above the windows, continued around the canted corners on the ground floor. There are blocked ogee-arched doorways on the north, west, and south sides, with the west and south doorways likely built as blind entrances. A string course runs between the ground and first floor windows. Blind quatrefoils are located towards the apex of each gable. The building is finished with saddleback coping, and merlons at the canted corners. Pointed finials are at the apex of each gable, though those on the south and west gables were missing at the time of resurvey. Contemporary drainpipes are set back behind the string course and continuous hoodmoulds at the canted corners. The interior has not been inspected.
