Description

Grange Farm Cottages is a detached house dating from the early to mid-17th century, although it was largely rebuilt in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, with the west front being more finely dressed. It has a concrete tile roof and stone stacks, one of which has been replaced in the 20th century. The plan is 'L'-shaped, featuring a 19th-century lean-to at the south gable end.

The three-storey facade is illuminated by 2 and 3-light casements set within cambered-headed surrounds, with bands between the ground and first floors. There are two blocked windows on the left wall of the wing. The entrance features a 19th-century four-panelled door with a 2-pane hall light above. The gable ends have stacks, flat coping, and a roll-cross saddle at the apex of the right gable end.

The right-hand wall and rear wall contain 2 and 3-light stone-mullioned casements from the 17th and 19th centuries, some of which have double chamfers. A 20th-century part-glazed door with a gabled canopy is located in the rear wall towards the north gable end. Inside, the ground floor of the wing features intersecting beams with moulded stops. There is an open fireplace with a stone 'Tudor'-arched surround and inglenook seats on either side in the wing that runs parallel to the road. Additionally, there is a barrel vaulted cellar lit by a hollow-chamfered stone-mullioned window.
