Description
Grove House is a detached house that dates from the mid 17th century, with a 19th-century extension. The original 17th-century section is built of limestone rubble, while the 19th-century extension features coursed squared and dressed limestone, along with a rubble stack and brick stacks. The original part has a rectangular plan and is two storeys high with an attic, while the extension to the west is one and a half storeys.
On the entrance elevation, the cross-gabled 17th-century range includes a three-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement window on the ground floor, with a two-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement above it. There is also a two-light casement window with a concrete lintel in the attic and a blocked doorway on the lower left. The 19th-century range features two three-light flat-chamfered stone-mullioned casements on the ground floor and two two-light Cotswold dormers above. A 20th-century rubble porch with a panelled door connects the two ranges, and there is a blocked central doorway in the 19th-century section. The house has gable-end axial stacks.
Inside, the property features beams with deep flat-chamfers and moulded stops, as well as a stone spiral staircase located to the left of a rebuilt open fireplace that has a bressumer.
