Description

The New Inn is a former detached house that has been converted into a public house. It dates from the late 18th century, with early 19th-century additions. The building is constructed of coursed and random rubble limestone, with ashlar and rebuilt brick chimneys, and features a stone slate roof, with Welsh slate on the rear wing.

It is two stories tall with an attic and has a three-story rear wing that forms an L-shape. The front of the building features the earliest part on the right, which has a two-window arrangement with 12-pane sash windows and stone flat arches. There is a central doorway with a flat porch hood and a six-panel fielded door, along with an illegible date plaque above the doorway. The front also has two gabled roof dormers. The left part of the building includes two ground floor and one upper floor 12-pane sash windows, all with timber lintels. There are three chimneys mounted on the ridge of the front range.

On the north side, there is a blocked doorway in the gable end of the front range. The left wing has a two-window arrangement with segmental arched sash windows, featuring 12-pane windows on the ground and middle floors and 9-pane windows on the upper floor. There is a segmental arched doorway to the right with a six-panel door. The wing has parapet gabled ends, each with a gabled-mounted chimney; the eastern chimney has been cut down, while the western chimney has a moulded cap. The lower part of the rear wing to the left has mixed and partially altered fenestration. The interior has not been inspected.
