Description
Jockey Stable Cottages, also known as the Gatehouse, dates from around 1844 and is a two-storey building that served as jockey quarters. It is constructed of coursed and dressed rubble with a slate roof featuring coped verges and brick chimneys. The building has three windows with segment-headed casements, which are irregular and partly blocked on the ground floor. There is a blocked doorway to the left of the centre, and access is now from the gable end. A lower L-plan extension is located to the south-west, which has a wide elliptical-headed entry that is now glazed. The keystone above the entry displays the date 1844 and an armorial shield, with flanking doors, one of which has been converted into a window. The property features an enclosed yard with 8-foot walls that ramp down to ashlar gate piers on the north-west side. This building is included for its group value.
