Description
Applegarth House is a detached house built in 1673, with alterations made in the early 19th century. The front features incised render, while the sides are made of rubble. It has a moulded cornice and parapet, and a stone slate roof with coped verges and a large ashlar end stack on the right. The rear range has a slate roof and rendered stacks. The main front range has two storeys with an attic in the gable ends, and the rear range, likely from the 19th century, is also two storeys.
The front has two windows with three-light cavetto stone mullions, square hoodmoulds, and twin-arched Gothick wooden casements. There are two similar windows on the ground floor, along with a central 20th-century two-light glazed door that matches the window style, featuring a stone lintel and uneven quoins. The west gable end includes a two-light stone mullion window for the attic and first floor. There is a small single-storey extension on the right that contains the main entrance door, which is from the 20th century. Although the interior is not accessible, it is said to have a panelled room and cupboards.
