Description
The Laurels is a detached house dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of random coursed rubble stone with quoins and features a stone slate roof with brick end stacks. The building has a single front range with a blind gable facing the street and a rear extension that is built in two stages along the street line. There is a nearly adjoining block to the south, which was a former agricultural building and is now in domestic use, but it is not of special interest.
The house is two storeys high with an attic. The main front, facing east, has two windows featuring 3-light chamfered stone mullions in a plain frame, with a central casement. Above, there is a single central gabled dormer with a square window. On the ground floor, there are two similar 3-light windows alongside a central door with six flush panels set in a chamfered stone surround, topped by a gabled 19th-century porch hood supported on struts. The elevation of the extension facing the street has two-light wooden casements with timber lintels.
