Description
Green Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse situated on the south side of the A417 near Lechlade. The building is constructed of coursed and dressed rubble stone with quoins, and has a stone slate roof with stone end stacks featuring a moulded cornice and offset. It is arranged as an L-shaped range of two storeys and an attic.
The front facade has three 6-pane sash windows of the 19th century, with a central, narrower sash window. The ground floor has two similar, wider 6-pane sashes. A central, 19th-century decorative gabled porch with a 4-panel door (the top two panels glazed, the lower two with bolection moulding within a moulded wood surround) sits centrally on the front. There are two small gabled dormers with 2-light windows of the 20th century. A projecting wing to the left has a 6-panel door, the top two panels glazed, the middle two fielded, and the lower two flush.
The rear facade features two similar 6-pane sashes on each floor, and a central round-headed window with voussoirs and leaded glass, likely lighting the staircase, on the first floor. A 6-panel door sits below, with the top four panels fielded and the lower two flush, beneath a large, flush cemented lintel. The right-hand side of the rear has a hipped corner with a 6-pane sash window and a half-glazed door below. The left-hand return of the projecting wing has two small ground floor windows with timber lintels.
