Description
BIBURY HAY LANE SP 00 NE at NGR SP 096069 (east side) 2/105 Hay Barn and shelter sheds II Barn with 2 attached shelter sheds. Late C18. Random rubble limestone; stone slate, Welsh slate and corrugated asbestos roofs. Five-bay barn with south west porch and outshuts; shelter sheds run forward to left and right forming 3 sides of yard. Central parapet gabled porch to south west side of barn, flanked by outshuts with catslide roofs, each with plank door adjacent to porch. Barn doorway with timber lintel and mixed doorway filling; pigeon hole in gable apex. Central barn doorway on north east side with timber lintel and plank doors; lean-to hood above; flanking slit vents. Loft doorway with timber lintel and plank door to each gable end. Attached wall links with shelter shed to left with dressed stone piers; stone vent in south west gable end. Similar shelter shed to right turns corner. Interior of barn not inspected but roof probably collar and tie-beam truss roof type. An isolated barn with the usual set of attached shelter sheds found in the east Cotswolds.
