Description
This barn, dating from the mid to late 18th century, is located on the east side of Bibury Hay Lane in Ablington. It is constructed from random rubble limestone and features a stone slate roof. The barn has five bays and includes porches on the north and south sides, with additional outshuts to the south. The main roof is half-hipped, while the porches have hipped roofs, and the roof of the south porch extends down as a catslide from the hipped end. The south porch is flanked by outshuts that also have catslide roofs. The barn doorways have timber lintels and plank doors, and there is a loft doorway with a timber lintel and plank door at the west end, which has an owl hole above it. The interior has not been inspected. This barn is noted for its unusual design and isolated location.
