Description

This barn, located approximately 65 meters north-west of Whittington Court, is dated and initialled 'R C 1614 W M' on the wall plate above the main entrance on the south side. It is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone and features a stone slate roof. The barn has an asymmetrical 'T'-shaped plan with a projecting porch on the south side. To the right of the porch, there is a 20th-century lean-to garage extension. The barn includes buttresses with offsets that are flush with the gable end of the porch.

The porch has double plank doors set within a flat-chamfered, four-centred arch, and a trefoil-headed single light with rosettes in the spandrels near the apex of the gable. There is a single width 'Tudor'-arched entrance in the left-hand wall of the porch and double width doors opposite the porch. Ventilation slits are present in the sides and gable ends, along with a former pitching window featuring a 'Tudor'-arched surround in the west gable end. The garage extension has a shouldered double width doorway and a hipped roof.

Inside, the barn consists of eight bays with four original roof trusses that have triple purlins and two collars, the lower of which is supported by struts from the base of the principal rafters. At the west end, there are three king post trusses.
