Description

College Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1700 or the early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble with a Cotswold stone roof featuring three ridge chimneys, two of which have moulded capping. The building has a somewhat irregular plan, consisting of two parallel ranges of unequal length and a stair turret at the angle formed to the south. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has two gabled dormers. The front has two bays with four-light chamfered mullion windows in rebated surrounds. On the ground floor to the right, there is a king mullion window, and all windows have drips. The left bay is slightly angled back. There are two doorways in the restored gable and one to the south. The east front is lower, with two and a half storeys and wooden lintels above the openings. The north gable features a three-light mullioned window on the first floor.

Inside, there is a dog-leg staircase with a straight string, approximately two turned balusters per tread, and a wide handrail with a moulding that returns down the newel on the first floor. This staircase is similar to one found at the Lords of the Manor Hotel in Upper Slaughter. The principal ground floor room, which was previously partitioned, has two fireplaces, and one beam features pyramidal stops. At the time of the last survey in 1982, the house was empty, open, and dilapidated.
