Description

The barn at Addlestrop Stud, dating from the late 18th century with 19th-century extensions, is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone with ashlar quoins, topped by a concrete tile and slate roof. The barn is rectangular in shape and features a projecting porch on the left end, flanked by 19th-century lean-tos that have rounded corners. The main body of the barn extends to the right with a rectangular open-fronted store set back on the left. A plank pitching door is located in the gable end of the right extension. There is a stable door at the front right, a double plank door on the left with a wooden lintel, and a similar door opposite. Slit vents are positioned above the stable door and in the right gable end. The projecting porch has a double door and a pigeon loft above, with a double-width opening and triangular ventilation slits in the opposite wall. Stable doors are present in the lean-to extensions on either side of the porch. The open-fronted store to the left is one storey with an attic, illuminated by two roof dormers. Below the left-hand dormer are double doors, and the right side has three open bays divided by timber supports, along with a plank door far right. The barn and store feature flat gable-end coping with roll saddles. Inside the barn, there are four bays with original collar and tie trusses, and 20th-century queen post trusses at the right end.
