Description
The Dovecote is a former dovecote that has been converted into a house. It dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century and was substantially rebuilt at a later date, with the conversion to a house occurring in the 20th century. The front wall is made of coursed squared and dressed limestone, while the other walls are constructed from coursed squared and dressed sandstone. The building has a slate roof and a square plan, featuring two storeys and an attic. The attic is lit by four Cotswold dormers, which have original double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods. The ground and first floors have two and three-light 20th-century stone-mullioned casements, also with stopped hoods. There are two central 20th-century doors with glazing bars at the front, and a string course is interrupted by the first-floor windows. The roof is cross-gabled and topped with a 20th-century pyramidal lantern at the centre. Inside, the attic retains nesting boxes.
