Description

Coachmans Cottage and School House is a former school and school house that has been converted into two semi-detached houses. The left side, Coachmans Cottage, features initials and the date 1721 in raised lettering on stone above the door. The windows were altered in the mid to late 19th century to match those of the mid to late 19th century School House on the right.

The main body of Coachmans Cottage is constructed from large blocks of coursed squared and dressed limestone, while both properties are primarily built with small coursed squared and dressed limestone, accented with ashlar quoins. The roofs are covered with concrete tiles and slate, and there are both ashlar and brick chimney stacks. Coachmans Cottage has two storeys and a garret, with a single-storey extension on the right side. The School House also has two storeys, with a single-storey section on the left and two-storey parts that feature two windows, connected by a three-windowed single-storey section.

All windows are in the Tudor-Gothic style, consisting of two and three lights with stopped hoods and diamond leaded panes. There is a 19th-century plank door within a 'Tudor'-arched surround at the center of the 18th-century main body of Coachmans Cottage, and a similar door is located in the single-storey section to the left of the two-storey part of the School House. The Coachmans Cottage has gable-end stacks, while the School House has axial stacks in the single-storey section on the right and the two-storey section. The interiors have not been inspected.
