Description
Nos. 1, 2, and 3 Terrace Cottages are a row of three houses built around 1860. They are constructed from coursed and squared limestone, featuring ashlar chimneys with moulded caps. The roof of No. 1 is made of stone slate, while Nos. 2 and 3 have plain tile roofs. At the back, there are rendered additions with corrugated asbestos roofs. The cottages have a double depth plan with one room frontage and are single storey with an attic.
The front of the cottages is designed in a picturesque style. Each house has a recessed chamfered doorway with a roof that extends to form a porch, supported by timber struts resting on stone corbels. The doors are made of planks and have elaborate iron hinges, keyholes, and closing rings. The windows are recessed chamfered mullioned types, with a hood mould and relieving arch; Nos. 1 and 3 have five-light windows, while No. 2 has a four-light window. There are three roof dormers with pierced barge boards and timber framed gables, and two large chimneys at the ridge.
At the back, Nos. 2 and 3 have single-storey additions with single and two-light recessed chamfered mullioned windows and three hipped dormers. The roof is half hipped at the ends.
