Description
Two adjoining barns and a stable block, located approximately 20 meters northwest of Park Farmhouse, date from the late 18th century to the mid-19th century. They are constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone and feature a stone slate roof. The barn runs parallel to the main village street and has a rectangular plan with a projecting porch on the north side. There is a small lean-to extension on the front right and another lean-to at the right gable end. A second barn is now linked at right angles to the first, positioned at the rear right, while the stable block is at the left gable end of the former barn, forming an 'L'-shaped layout.
The stable block is single-storey and includes stable doors along with 12-pane fixed casements that have glazing bars. The barn to the right of the stable block features a fixed 12-pane casement set within the blocking of a single-width doorway towards the left gable end, as well as a small double doorway with an almost flat segmental head off-centre left and ventilation slits. The barn at the rear right has double plank doors off-centre left and a similar doorway in the opposite wall. There is an extra threshing floor with double doorways connecting the two barns.
Inside the barn parallel to the village street, there are six bays that largely retain their original collar and tie beam trusses with halved apexes, double butt purlins, and carpenters' marks, although some timber has been replaced in the 20th century. The rear barn contains four bays with original roof trusses featuring tie-beams, and two of these trusses retain raking struts. A similar truss is found in the linking section between the two barns.
