Description

The Old Manor is a manor house located on Church Road in Guiting Power. It was built in the 16th century by the Stratford family and underwent significant alterations and extensions in the 20th century. The building features coursed squared and dressed limestone with a limestone slate roof, which has limestone gable coping and ashlar stacks.

The main body of the house is rectangular and originally had a facade with three Cotswold gables, which are now at the rear and obscured by the 20th-century extensions. The garden front is symmetrical and the house is two stories tall with an attic, illuminated by a central Cotswold dormer. It has four windows, which include two and four-light stone-mullioned casements with leaded lights and stopped hoods, although several have been replaced in the 20th century.

The central entrance features a stable-type door with a thumb latch set in a plain flat-chamfered surround. Other notable features include 20th-century lead drain pipes, decorative heraldic shields, and a Phoenix insurance plaque on the right wall towards the rear. There is also a three-step mounting block against the rear right wall of the house. The gable coping is slightly stepped with roll-cross saddles, and there are twin ashlar stacks with moulded caps from the former left and right gable ends at the rear of the main body. The interior has not been inspected.
