Description

The Chestnuts, located on the north-east side of High Street, comprises several premises: Country Crafts, The Windrush Pharmacy, Oliver and Newman, and The Salad Bowl. The building is in two sections. The left section is likely from the 18th century but has been significantly altered in the 20th century. It features coursed rubble construction with Cotswold stone roofs, two storeys, and four casement windows above modern shopfronts, along with two stone ridge stacks. The right section is probably from the mid-18th century and has also been altered in the 20th century. It has two storeys and attics, with projecting modern shopfronts on the ground floor, sash windows with glazing bars, moulded stone architraves, and bull-nosed cills. The roof is steeply pitched, featuring four pedimented dormers and two stone stacks. There is likely a blocked carriage entrance under the left-hand bay. This building is included for its group value.
